TK thermography measurement

Our Thermography Measurement System is a powerful tool for monitoring contacts between pantographs and overhead wires, as well as other electronic components on rail vehicles. Using an infrared thermography camera, the temperature at the contact point is measured and analyzed to identify areas of excessive heat development. The captured data includes the temperature in °C for each image point, position on the track (GPS coordinates and path), and speed. Optionally, current and voltage can also be measured.

The thermography measurement system is versatile and can be used to monitor electronic components, third rail connections, or brake pads. Data analysis is performed using our software, which enables the identification of areas with a significantly heated carbon strip and conclusions about the contact quality between pantograph and overhead wire.

Using the thermography measurement system offers a reliable way to detect early damages in pantograph and overhead wire systems, thereby avoiding costly repairs and downtime. The thermography measurement can also be combined with other measurement methods such as the overhead wire “Position-Impact” measurement or the overhead wire wear measurement, to provide a comprehensive picture of the overhead line’s condition.
